Learn English
Improve your Mathematics
In Vietnam, it is a plus for a young person to be able to speak the English language. Many foreigners are often impressed with a Vietnamese person that is able to communicate with them in English. It is also a tool for young Vietnamese that are interested in obtaining employment with a company whose primary language is English. The students that I work with are serious about learning and we do our best to use practical and situational constructs to help them go from beginners to upper - intermediate speakers. This builds confidence in their pronunciation as well.
...Algebra, Geometry or Maths word problems. The student will have a grasp of what to do, but I try to find out if the concept and fundamental base is there. Once this is established, the student is able to begin to build confidence in what he or she is doing in the particular area of challenge.

English as a Second Language
Some of the students that seek help with learning English do so because they want to speak and sound as a native speaker of the language. Because of this, the focus is on pronunciation, speaking, vocabulary and grammar. We have many writing drills and activities for memorization. The students may study for TOEFL, TOEIC, IELTS or just prepare themselves for any exam at their school.

Business English
I was once approached by a young woman as I was walking to one of the homes to hold a teaching session. She was a young college graduate that thought I spoke English. She asked if I did and when I answered she asked me if I would help her to speak better English. She worked in marketing. Out of that meeting, I have since begun tutoring and teaching young adults that work in banks, retail shops, cafes and one man that runs a Golf Pro shop. These people meet with business personnel from Singapore or Malaysia and they have been able to improve their English through my services. I am thankful to God.

Exam Preparation
It has been my experience, while I was a volunteer, that I noticed much "test anxiety". For this reason, I decided to ask students what causes the anxiety that they have. Many said the lessons are sometimes too vague, or that the information is not clear. This is understandable, since they often learn at a fast pace. For those that have prepped for the IELTS, TOEIC, and the TOEFL exams, I share with them how to study piece-by-piece and how to focus on the context and not the content. Exam prep is important and the small-group methodology has worked well for the students.

Maths
There is a very high expectation for Maths within Vietnamese culture. The pressure is often too much for the younger students. My approach for helping them stems from my own fear that I once had when I was younger. So, I understand the students in this way. We look at Pre-Algebra, Algebra I,II and Geometry in a practical way. I use videos and flashcards to assist the students (often one-on-one) so that he /she is grasping the application and able to see the concepts clearer and much more confidently. The Maths curricula is based on each of the individual's needs. Group methodology is sometimes a bit challenging, so I try not to do it too often.
